Owning Blooming Grounds Coffee House for 19 years and watching downtown grow into a destination has been a dream. Adding Muddled Thyme to downtown came about when a space that was previously the Oaks Wine Bar, had sat vacant and had a new building owner. The idea of an upscale cocktail bar with great food, wine and beer all crafted with high attention to detail and taste in an atmosphere to match was at the forefront of this project of passion.
Keeping with the beautiful esthetique the previous owners curated, but adding a few changes to make it our own was important. We hired a mixologist consultant to help train our staff on classic cocktails, and also worked with Tattersall to curate a special cocktail menu for our space. We also worked with our favorite wine suppliers in the area to bring a variety of wines from around the world. We carry local midwest beers and spirits.
Our food menu was a collaboration with chef Bill who has worked in Winona since the 80s. My experience with food through travel and his knowledge of food through being a chef for many years has resulted in a menu of apps, salads, and homemade Neapolitan artisan brick oven pizza. Our ingredients are local whenever possible (Burnett dairy WI, pork from Frickson Farms, Basil from my garden and produce from north of Rochester), pizza dough is organic 00 flour, and everything is made from scratch.
